RIP: Nora Ephron

Nora Ephron, writer and director behind romantic comedies like You’ve Got Mail and Sleepless in Seattle, has died due to complications of illness. She was 71.

For the last six years Ephron struggled with myelodysplasia, a blood disorder, that made her extremely ill. She passed away Tuesday in a New York hospital.

Aside from directing eight well-received “chick flicks”, Ephron was also responsible for writing When Harry Met Sally and one of my personal favorites, My Blue Heaven. Ephron elevated the romantic comedy genre she worked in. Not something you say about many working in Hollywood.
