Pottermore is Open for Business

After months of anticipation, Harry Potter fans can now get the books in digital format, but only from J.K. Rowling’s Pottermore website. The are available in formats that run on all major e-readers and tablets. After purchase, books can be downloaded up to eight times and read on all major devices whether it be an iPad, Nook or Kindle.

Further, as Tim Carmody notes, “Rowling and Pottermore convinced retailers to digitally support the books with device syncing, bookmarks, and all the trappings that usually are only provided for books sold through the retailers’ own sites.”

About the only downside to all of this is that traditional language and regional restrictions still apply. Although that only means that an American reader can’t purchase the UK’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. The individual eBooks are between $7.99 and $9.99 but you’ll want to buy “The Complete Harry Potter Collection” for $57.54.
