Founded in 2007 and headquartered in Portland, OR, The Sly Oyster is focused on finding interesting content to drive a diverse community of smart and vocal citizens. They are passionate college students, disaffected young professionals and adults refusing to let life’s responsibilities get in their way.

Great tunes, jaw-dropping flicks, the flotsam and jetsam of politics and news, the strange things adults do for fun, mocking trashy celebrities, the never ending journey for a perfect meal, washed down with a glass of wine or an excellently brewed beer.

The Oysterites trying to dish about the little things which make life matter. All served up with a healthy dose of snark, sarcasm and humor. Afterall, nothing is worth crying over. Unless it’s the end of Braveheart or Mel Gibson’s latest arrest.

The World is your Oyster and it shouldn’t be choked on. Think of The Sly Oyster as the delicious mignonette which makes the world more enjoyable.

MP3s on this site are for sampling purposes only. Please buy the album if you like what you hear. If you represent an artist featured on the site or are the owner of a song and wish for it to be removed, please contact our Managing Editor directly and we will be happy to take it down ASAP. Songs help to promote bands, but those bands need you to buy their records and merchandise so they can continue to put out the music you love. It’s a vicious Catch-22.

Food & Drink
Whether it be restaurant and bar reviews, recipes, or wine, beer, and cocktail advice our “gustatory arts” department knows it all. Don’t hesitate if you’re a bar owner or restaurant owner and would like to be featured in a future article. We might be able to arrange something.

Music
Our music department delivers the latest and greatest music information to the masses. Whether it’s concert reviews, profiles, videos, album reviews, we’re constantly staying on top things. The staff here has been known to dabble in Indie, hip-hop, country, jam bands, really there is no genre we don’t appreciate so long as it’s authentic. Otherwise we’ll just make fun of it. If you’re an upcoming band and want to send us some Mp3s (by pony or electron) to check out we’ll give them a listen. If we like we’ll post them for all the world to see.

Movies and Television
News and reviews from studio blockbusters to little indies that could. We’re all about the artistry behind the entertainment. We follow casting rumors, movie developments, on set squabbles of television shows and movies. We aim to bring our readers information on the shows they love, turn them on to shows they don’t yet know they love and commiserate over the shows they’ve lost.

Cheap Thrills
Basically anything that keeps people occupied. For video games our audience turns to The Artful Gamer column, where we look at new releases, consoles, old favorites, forgotten gems and all the ins-and-outs of the gaming world. We’re always on the lookout for the next adult kick-ball league, Professional Lego Building group, competitive foosball leagues, or the strange things people do to entertain themselves. Could be an art show, could be competitive eating, could be stupid comedy videos or celebrity gossip. Cheap Thrills is our special brand of helping you procrastinate.

News & Politics
Maybe you shouldn’t care or maybe you should care more. But every know and then we’re intrigued by something related to business, finance, politics and those serious subject matters like “actual news.” And uh, when the government is trying to stick it to us unfairly.
