Boxee Adds Live TV

Boxee has just updated their media player device (I love their Windows media player even if I find it ultimately superfluous) to offer the ability to stream live television. The downside is you’ll have to buy a $50 dongle to plug into the device and a set of digital rabbit ears ($15) to get broadcast channels.

Still, this is a nice step for those looking to cut the cable cord. What would be nice is to see Boxee put all of these offerings into one device. Just build a nice box that has an antenna, a hard drive for DVR capabilities, various streaming options, and perhaps the ability to download torrents/browse the Internet. A person wouldn’t need much more than that to get rid of cable indefinitely.
