X-Men Anime Clip

Madhouse just released their first promo for their upcoming X-Men anime series, which debuts in Japan April 1st. There’s only 15-seconds or so of actual footage in the clip above, but I’m really digging the look and feel of the animation. Given the buzz surrounding the Iron Man and Wolverine anime series from Madhouse, it’s tough to get too excited, but even considering that, this certainly has to be worth watching, right?

The plot has been kept under wraps, but from what I can gather, “The X-Men are reunited following the death of a teammate, and are summoned by Charles Xavier to Japan following the abduction of Hisako Ichiki (Armor). There, they confront the U-Men, a lunatic cult that steals and transplants mutant organs to further strengthen their own army, and the battle for justice is on.”

It also makes me wonder why we can’t get a no-holds barred X-Men animated series here in the US, one aimed primarily for the adult children who grew up on comic books and maybe want something where Wolverine goes full-on bizercker mode.  [via comicsalliance]
