Well, NBC is certainly looking to give Steve Carell a great send-off. Tonight, Ricky Gervais will be making a brief cameo as David Brent (his character from the original UK “The Office”) and now we learn, according to Deadline, that Will Ferrell will join the show for a four-episode arc. One of which will be after Carell has already exited.
He will play a branch manager who comes from the home office and is just as inappropriate as Steve Carell’s Michael Scott character. NBC is still figuring out exactly when the episodes will air.
Now if they can just get the rest of the Apatow crew — Vince Vaughn, Paul Rudd, Seth Rogen, et. al. — NBC could really give Carell the send off he deserves. But why stop there? Why not Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert and Bob Odenkirk?
