Say Goodbye to NBC’s Law & Order

There was a time when you could watch NBC’s Law & Order just about 24-hours a day.  And somedays in college I actually would do just that.  It was background noise for studying and eventually late-night fodder for arguing over. What was your ideal cast? Was the new assistant DA better or worse (looking) than the previous one?  And on and on and on.

I mostly checked out of the show when Jerry Orbach passed away.  And now, the show will be canceled by NBC when it wraps up it’s 20th season this year.  It’ll be one season shy of Gunsmoke’s record.

For me, I’ll take Benjamin Bratt (or Jesse Martin) and Jerry Orbach as my cops, with Sam Waterson (obviously, though I could argue the merits of Exec. ADA Ben Stone [Michael Moriarty]) and in a slight upset over both Jill Hennessey and Angie Harmon, I’m going with Elisabeth Röhm as my other lawyer.

Ah, you went with Serena the Lesbian…that still seemed like it came out of left field! Also, don't forget the DA- I loved Adam Schiff …but also, fond of Nora Lewin. I'm really attached to Lupo and Linus currently…but NO one beats Lennie…and no one ever will! I cannot believe this is it…no last season to prepare us…it is amazing how many shows "disappeared" without much notice or fanfare. Don't forget Dan Cragen…who jumped to SVU!

Sarah, you're right! To me it's a toss up between Schiff and Lewin as the DA. I like them equally.

Watching Lupo and Linus currently, it's tough because I'm reminded of their much superior NBC show, Kidnapped, which only lasted three or four episodes before being dumped. Also, if we're going to work in the L&O offshoots, well, that could be a week long debate for ultimate lineups.
