A Michael Caine Competition

TIL: Michael Winterbottom has a new show on the BBC starring Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon.  The premise of The Trip is fairly simple: Steve agrees to review six restaurants in the north of England and takes Rob with him. It’s a bit like Curb Your Enthusiasm, wherein the show is fictional but based around the representational personalities of “Steve Coogan” and “Rob Brydon.”

The combination of Coogan, Brydon and Winterbottom have paid immense comedy dividends with Tristam Shandy, 24 Hour Party People, and A Cock and Bull Story. I suppose this is where I also say, Hamlet 2 is worth a rental just for Coogan’s buffo performance. [via The Awl]

If you have trouble finding it, check out http://thebox.bz/. It's the best place I know of for getting British TV, a real Anglophile gold mine. I have invites if you need one, holla!

I need to watch this right now! I think I may try and find it online. The two of them together just kill me.

I just watched this over the weekend, and this had me in stitches. The whole episode was really good, funny and surprisingly touching, but this bit just killed me.
