Are the rich kids coming back to Beverly Hills? And more importantly could this be a decent show? I ask that question because the CW is intent of bringing back Beverly Hills 90210, that seminal show in the nineties that made side burns cool, launched the careers of the Flaming Lips, and spawned a thousand imitation shows.
So CW is trying to line up Veronica Mars mastermind Rob Thomas to be showrunner. If that happens then my interest in this project will certainly spike through the roof. Thomas is also the creator of the short lived Jeremy Piven series Cupid.
“Details about the spinoff,” according to the Hollywood Reporter “including which if any of the characters on the original series will make the transition to the new show — remain sketchy. CW is expected to make a decision whether to order a pilot by the end of the month.”
Could make a nice complement to their other buzz worthy New York rich kids show Gossip Girl. Now if they can just get Steve Sanders to come back in some capacity. As principle of Beverly Hills High?
