Super Bowl

The extended commercial for The Avengers contains plenty of awesome new footage, like Shields helipad, the Hulk, etc. Really, I’m getting the sense that 2012′s summer movie season could be as incredible as 2011′s was completely forgettable.

If you checked out of last night’s Super Bowl halftime show, because, you know, Madonna, then you have missed MIA flipping off the crowd. The official apology from NBC: “Our system was late to obscure the inappropriate gesture and we apologize to our viewers.” You might have missed it even if you watched. But, we’re just happy something interesting [...]

The Super Bowl commercials keep on coming! Pretty soon they’ll be no reason to watch the game other than being a Patriots or Giants fan. This time around, we get a tasty new look at The Hunger Games, which I wasn’t too excited about initially, but the more I think about it, the more I [...]

Here’s Volkswagen’s Super Bowl spot, which was teased last week. I quite like the Mos Eisley twist at the end. I also like the new tradition of companies releasing their Super Bowl ads before the Super Bowl onto YouTube. For absurdity, how about those four Navy F-18s flying over the stadium – with its retractable roof closed? Everybody inside could only see [...]

Well, the world has spoken, as if the Twitter backlash during the show wasn’t bad enough, and the unanimous vote has been a big, stinking “F”.  Maybe this will lead to an Arcade Fire/Decemberists halftime show. Or something. Anything. I’m still washing the auditory wardrobe malfunction taste out of my mouth. It was like they [...]

Slate imagines what it would look like if Tarantino, Lynch, Anderson, Godard, and Herzog directed the Super Bowl.  [via]

The Super Bowl has morphed from a “must watch the commercials” standpoint, to a watch Hollywood’s summer movie push over the last few years.  Seems that there are always commercials worth talking about, but those tend to be extended movie trailers. We’ll update as the big game goes on and more become available, but for [...]
