Well, it’s over. But still, Snoop shared his thoughts on Barack Obama getting the nomination in Esquire’s “What I’ve Learned” spread.
“Barack Obama makes me feel good to be a black man. Just seein’ him up there representin’ intelligently and really knowing what he talkin’ about and defending his shit even when they try and shoot at him. The old president and baby girl — Bill and Hill — they tried to double wop on him. Boo bop. But he have enough game to get out of that.”
I’m not quite sure what it means to double wop on someone, but I’m pretty sure no one actually tried to shoot Barack Obama. Also, wouldn’t it be great if Snoop Dogg could narrate your life and make even the most trite and boring aspects of your day sound exciting?
“Yeah that’s Jim representin’ the moring cereal. Double O’s!” You best believe that I’m going to double wop on Phil from accounting later today. I’m sure there are a million more jokes to be made that I don’t have time for… but just think about Snoop Dogg narrating your day. [via]

The Doggfather popped by funny gal Ellen back on December 4 to chat about his upcoming reality show and get funky with the audience of single ladies. To be honest, “Sensual Seduction” grows on me everytime I hear it. The song may not reach the g-funk heights of his early work, but the track makes me wanna wrap myself in purple velvet and break out my pimp cane in a way that few songs can.
Also, I love that this is Snoop’s idea of maturing. Most musicians contemplate their own mortality or what it means to be a parent, etc., but Snoop? Naw, his idea of being adult is making sure he takes the time for his lady to get hers before he gets his before rolling over to have a smoke. That’s a complete 180 from his thoughts on the subject back in the halcyon days of Doggstyle.

Doggy Dogg’s always got a place in our heart, even if that place has been getting smaller and smaller since he dropped Doggystyle.
But man, his new video is freakin’ hilarious I can’t take it seriously. You’ve got to wonder if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. It’s so cheezy, early 80’s Lionel Richie vibe. Snoop’s had some wonderful videos and truly memorable appearances over the years, but this one might just take the cake, if not musically, then definately unintentional comedy.

It was a nice weekend. Finally some great weather here in Boston, great for rolling down the windows and driving around.
- 300 slayed the box office as Leonidas slayed a million Persian hordes. Not surprising that it came in at number one, but it is surprising the movie racked up almost $70 million at the box office. The good news is this means they’ll be more willing to allow Zak Snyder the chance to move forward with his Watchmen adaptation. I was frakking floored by the movie, but I’ll chime in later today with some thoughts on it.
- Lead singer of 70’s arena rock superstars Boston, died over the weekend. Brad Delp, who also sang with the band Beatle Juice – an awesome Beatles tribute band by the by – was found dead in New Hampshire. There’s been some sadness but mostly this was just an otherwise noted blip on the radar of dead rockstars. It’s sad. Though no one would admit it, Boston was by all accounts a pretty awesome band. Though most of their songs all sounded similar they had some damn great songs and their record sales indicated as much. Steve Morse pays his respects as does Bob Lefsetz.
- The real question in all of this is: who had the better spaceships, Boston or ELO?
- Snoop Dogg was arrested in Sweden over the weekend. What are the odds Snoop had some illegal narcotics in his system? 3 to 2? Even money? Would you take that bet?
- Blues Traveler frontman John Popper was arrested as well. Guns and drugs during a traffic stop. Who’s next from the 93 HORDE tour?
- Halliburton is moving their offices from Texas to Dubai. It’s a move, I’m sure that will make Dick Cheney happy, what with not having to pay taxes and adhere to American business laws. But doesn’t it sort of feel like a kick in the balls if you’re a serviceman? I’m sure they’re moving there for the new Tiger Woods golf course or the Burj Al Arab Hotel, right?
- Gas prices rose 20 cents over the weekend. The average price for a gallon of gas is $2.55. Which is still significantly cheaper than a gallon of milk, how’s that possible?
