Paul Rudd and friends read romance novels

YouTube Preview Image

Nightline did a piece on the 60th anniversary of Harlequin Books.  But it might just have been an excuse to get Paul Rudd and company to read passages.

Also?  This is what counts for journalism these days, and no this is not a piece from The Onion.  Seth Rogan reads at 3:30 and Paul Rudd shortly follows.  [via Buzzfeed]

Party Down on Starz

YouTube Preview Image

I’ve been meaning to post this, but Starz made their new sitcom available on YouTube.  Or at least the first episode.  The problem is I’m not going to subscribe to Starz to watch this, but I will try to download on torrents.  It’s unfortunate that Rob Thomas (Veronica Mars) and producer Paul Rudd got this very funny show about LA caterers on a cable network no one pays to subscribe to.

If I were Starz, I would figure out a way to make this show available – even if it’s downloading for a dollar or two on their site.  Otherwise, I’m liable to just go the ole torrents route.

Also, for those Veronica Mars fans out there doesn’t this show feel like a bizarro episode of Veronica?  The cast is mostly VM alums plus the hilarious Lizzy Caplan, Martin Starr and Jane Lynch.  I’m holding my breath for the inevitable Kristen Bell cameo episode.

Apatow’s disciples

comedians

Jonah Hill, Paul Rudd, Seth Rogen and Jason Segel, a.k.a. “Pretty Young Things.”

Not that I’d want to see it, but why the beige nudie leotards.  Why not drop trow and go all out for this one.  Of course, they are mocking the famous Annie Liebovitz photo featuring fashion designer Tom Ford, Scarlett Johansson and Keira Knightley.

New Trailer: I Love You, Man

iloveyoumanstill-440x237Dreamworks has released a new trailer for the comedy I Love You, Man, starring Paul Rudd as a newly engaged dude looking for a best man.  You see he doesn’t have a guy friends, ya’ll.  Expects lots of publications to through around terms like “bromance” or “man date,” but as someone living in a new city without any dude friends I have a feeling this movie is going to hit home on a certain level. And maybe not in a good way.  I will say, that trying to make dude friends is kinda awkward.

I don’t have much faith in director John Hamburg, best known for Along Came Polly, but I’m holding out hope that Jason Segel and Paul Rudd can bring some of that Apatow chemistry to the mix.  The film also costars Jaime Pressly, Andy Samberg, Jon Favreau, and Rashida Jones.  Good comedy actors for sure.  I’m setting my sights low for this one and hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

It’s not viral marketing . . . it’s comedy!

Leave it to Judd Apatow to make a comedy bit that doubles as a commercials, then turns a corner and makes fun of the fact that it’s a commercial for his movies and then totally spirals out of control.

In this new Funnyordie.com sketch Craig Robinson (The Office), Paul Rudd, Jonah Hill, Justin Long and Judd Apatow getting into arguments, talking movies and playing Rock Band.

Hearing the mild mannered, or at least when he’s on The Office, Robinson scream “The backlash has begun and I am the backlash!” is just about the funniest thing I’ve heard recently. And the good news is that Apatow has enough sense to poke fun of the eventual “Apatow backlash” before it happens.
