Marvel’s doing a four-issue Iron Man Vs. Whiplash series beginning in November, and the redesigned Whiplash who shows up there is more or less what Mickey Rourke will end up looking like in the Iron Man 2 movie, if you’re to believe Io9.
The overall design isn’t bad, except for the strange helmet. Regardless, the four-comic issue also might be a lead into next summer’s big blockbuster, so it should be worth checking out.
Ah, it’s finally leaked. From Worst Previews, “On one side is Justin Hammer (Rockwell), a fast-talking weapons manufacturer who fancies himself the next Tony Stark; on the other, Vanko (Mickey Rourke) who, while incarcerated in a Russian prison, creates his own battle-suit, which shoots devastating, whip-like beams. Hammer and Whiplash join forces to take Downey’s character Tony Stark down.
“Adding more flesh and blood to the new movie is Stark’s mysterious new assistant, Natasha, who has an alter ego of her own, Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson). That introduction inevitably sparks romantic tension between Stark and former assistant Pepper Potts, who’s been promoted to CEO of Stark Industries.”
Since they haven’t and apparantly aren’t going to release the footage to the masses (because why would they want to promote their film/develop some good buzz), a few wonderfully nerdy fans, who were among the 6,000 or so people at the Iron Man 2 panel during Comic Con, re-made the footage themselves in true swede-style.
So now you’ll at least know what the footage consisted of, even if you don’t know what it looks like.
Courtesy of USA Today comes this first look at Mickey Rourke as the villainous Ivan Vanko/Whiplash in Iron Man 2. The character seems to be a hybrid of Ivan Vanko and Crimson Dynamo, but probably only a few people care about that. Now if we can just get a look at ScarJo as The Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff.
