Saturday’s BSS lineup included, among others, Feist, Emily Haines, Kevin Drew, Jimmy Shaw, Brendan Canning, Jason Collett, and Amy Millan. Impressive seeing them all together on the same stage considering all the ridiculous success many of them have had either solo or with other bands (Metric and Stars).
Anyway, here’s the group with Emily Haines out front dropping the track “Anthem for a 17-year-old Girl” with Feist and Amy Millan looking on in awe.
There was some controversy concerning the show’s cancellation and subsequent move to the Harbourfront, but by all accounts (Youtube really) it looked like it was a concert for the ages. [more]
We’re glad the kids will have someone cool to sing along with, even if the adults are all sick to death of Feist’s “1-2-3-4″ when the venerable PBS show debuts its 39th season this year. Leslie Feist will drop by to teach kids to count to four.
A salient point is to be made here. In the actual song, Feist herself has a hard time counting to 10. In fact, she doesn’t do it. Second, we’re a bit miffed that she doesn’t have a showdown with The Count. This would have been the way to go.
In the wake of Yo Gabba Gabba’s hipster credentials, is Sesame Street trying to do the same. They have Will Arnett, Heidi Klum and Jack Black making stops to the stoop made famous by Big Bird, Oscar and Grover.
Hands down Feist owned 2007, so one would think she may want to chill out in 2008, but apparantly that’s not in her plans for utter world domination.
“I Feel It All” was easily our fav track from The Reminder. And now it’s got a proper vid, directed by Patrick Daughters. This time Leslie is standing in front of the camera, but the colorful whimsy is gone. Instead we get her out in the backyard at night lighting fireworks.
Not exactly what I imagined, but what can you do. I didn’t imagine blue sequined one-piece jumpsuits either.
