I don’t think this song will ever get old or awful no matter how much I listen to it. Blitzen Trapper has really stepped up their game with what will be one of 2008’s finest albums in Furr.
The guys stopped by Conan to sing a ditty and provided another reason why I love Portland so much. The musical hotbed that exists here is unparalleled. In concert Blitzen Trapper come off as some crazy melding of The Eagles and Black Sabbath, smoothing out each of those bands’s terrible flaws and producing something akin to musical Clearasil for blemished souls.
By the way, Snoop Dogg stopped by so the entire episode may be worth watching.
I don’t think I’m the only one who doesn’t gets the appeal of Tapes N Tapes. They’re good for sure. And after making some noise with their first album The Loon, it’s not surprising that music snob rag Pitchfork has decided to utterly trash their second album, the just released Walk it Off.
But this isn’t a commentary on Pitchfork’s mercurial practices, it’s more a question of what does a band do when they’re not afforded the time to become a band? You know when they haven’t paid their dues at club shows, figured out their voice, etc. It’s an essay someone should tackle because it’s something that will ultimately dampen the music industry. There are a litany of bands like this. Is it just more pronounced with the rise of the Mp3 blogs? Who knows.
“Hang Them All” has a great guitar riff and is certainly a propulsive track.

Damn.? If you thought the ukulele was for lame ass Hawaiian music, then you’ve probably never heard of Jake Shimabukuro.? This video of him playing on Conan O’Brian two nights ago is awesome for several reasons.
A) He plays George Harrison’s “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” which may be one of the greatest songs ever written.
B) He absolutely shreds the guitar solo.
C) He keeps smiling and concentrating, like he’s playing Guitar Hero, but really he’s just that passionate about the song.? It’s a very off-putting way to melt someone’s face.
D) When Conan goes in for the handshake, Shimabukuro goes in for the man hug and Conan had his face melted so much that he obliges.? I have never seen Conan in awe.
E) His Myspace page says “Peace, love & Ukulele.”? Yes please.
F) Afterwards Eric Clapton called Shimabukuro and said, “I was wrong.? You in fact are God.”
