San Diego Comic Con passes going quickly

ccihdr_r1_c1If you haven’t bought your pass to Comic-Con, you’ll want to do that pretty soon.

About 70% of tickets have been sold (preview night is already sold out) and at this rate, the event will sell out six-months ahead of time.

That’s insane.

Iron Man 2 Comic Con footage

Ah, it’s finally leaked.  From Worst Previews, “On one side is Justin Hammer (Rockwell), a fast-talking weapons manufacturer who fancies himself the next Tony Stark; on the other, Vanko (Mickey Rourke) who, while incarcerated in a Russian prison, creates his own battle-suit, which shoots devastating, whip-like beams. Hammer and Whiplash join forces to take Downey’s character Tony Stark down.

“Adding more flesh and blood to the new movie is Stark’s mysterious new assistant, Natasha, who has an alter ego of her own, Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson). That introduction inevitably sparks romantic tension between Stark and former assistant Pepper Potts, who’s been promoted to CEO of Stark Industries.”

SDCC: Iron Man 2 footage (but sweded)

Since they haven’t and apparantly aren’t going to release the footage to the masses (because why would they want to promote their film/develop some good buzz), a few wonderfully nerdy fans, who were among the 6,000 or so people at the Iron Man 2 panel during Comic Con, re-made the footage themselves in true swede-style.

So now you’ll at least know what the footage consisted of, even if you don’t know what it looks like.

So thanks guys for being awesome. [via]

The Wolfman Comic Con footage

Universal unveiled some footage from Spring 2009’s The Wolfman. The Victorian-era set movie, stars Benicio del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Hugo Weaving and Emily Blunt. We were excited out of the gate for the project because of the cast, the premise behind the film and the involvement of director Mark Romanek.

When Romanek left the project due to “creative differences” our excitement waned. Director Joe Johnson stepped in to finish the movie. Johnson is a steady if unexciting director. He can handle action, but nothing in his CV suggests greatness. Nothing suggests he could deftly handle a Victorian monster/horror film.

But the leaked footage looks promising. And I love the way the world looks and we haven’t had a great monster/horror movie since the Korean export The Host.
