Terms of Service; Didn’t Read

Let’s not fool ourselves. Nobody reads the “terms of service” when signing up for anything on the web. The small and long blocks of legalese text are constructed in a manner to purposefully get people to blindly click on the accept box.

However, a new service from a group of technologists and lawyers launched this summer to simplify the terms of service, aptly named ToS;DR, into an easily understood letter grade — Class A is user-friendly and Class E is a user nightmare.

It’s about time someone did this, but honestly, it would be better if there was some regulatory oversight to make terms of service clearer and easier to understand when signing up for a particular service. [via theatlantic]
