Rethinking Digg

Much was made of Digg being sold for a measly $500,000 a few weeks ago to Betaworks, the company behind Bit.ly, SocialFlow, Chartbeat, and News.me.

Well, the News.me team is now in charge of relaunching the once-great site and they plan to do so on August 1. The team says, it’s “taking the first step towards (re)making Digg the best place to find, read and share the most interesting and talked about stories on the Internet.”

Unfortunately, the Internet already has that (and I would argue pretty happy with) in Reddit, Twitter, and Facebook. With that said, if anyone could turn around Digg and make it worthy using again, it would be Betaworks. They make fantastic publishing tools.
