Introducing Marginal Revolution University

The duo behind the economy blog Marginal Revolution, Tyler Cowen and Alex Tabarrok, unveiled an online education platform yesterday called MRUniversity.

It joins the growing ranks of free, online education classes such as the Khan Academy and other intellectually stimulating websites.

“We think education should be better, cheaper, and easier to access. So we decided to take matters into our own hands and create a new online education platform toward those ends. We have decided to do more to communicate our personal vision of economics to you and to the broader world,” writes Cowen, in a blog post announcing the initiative.

The first course, Development Economics, will begin on October 1. I love everything that is changing about education and learning with regards to the ingenuity of Internet start-ups. MRUniversity will certainly be worth following the progress of, just to see what differently they can bring to online education.
