Just six weeks after the purchase of Digg by Betaworks, and giving great thought into revamping it, the first version of Digg’s next era has launched. There’s no commenting for now (probably a good thing), the voting system takes into account re-tweets and Facebook shares as a metric (a welcome feature), and the layout is heavy on photos in a Pinterest sort of way instead of the classic river of links approach.
I like it. It’s very minimal, but in a clean way. This seems like a great foundation laid down. I’m just not sure I have any reason to use the new Digg or go back at this point. Maybe time and new features from Betaworks will prove me wrong?
