On a recent visit to the Louisiana State Capitol building in Baton Rouge, a Wonkette reader made an astonishing and hilarious discovery: The biography of Louisiana’s first governor, William C. C. Claiborne is nothing more than a printout from Wikipedia.
This makes me want to pat the collective state on the head and say good try champ! It also makes me question how a state that uses a Wikipedia printout for a statue of their first governor is given a platform for affecting my life in any way, shape or form. Surely there is a metaphor for how retarded America can be sometimes.
In all seriousness though, I’m sure it’s just a placeholder for the coming permanent biography, or some jerk-off interns idea for a joke. Or it could be a very clever and smart comment on museums’ and memorials’ reliance on the encyclopedia for these sorts of things. [via thedailywhat]
