Yahoo Shutters Delicious

Yahoo has shuttered their bookmarking service Delicious, as part of their 600 layoffs yesterday (they also closed some other services that no one cares about).

You have two alternatives:

1. Export all of your delicious bookmarks into your browser.  Which is probably the best bet, or you could,

2. Use pinboard, a minimalist bookmarking service similar to delicious, or a browser extension like Xmarks.

I never really used Delicious, so no biggie for me, but I do recognize it was a beloved site.  Hopefully, this is not a precursor to Yahoo’s other owned web service, photo sharing site Flikr.  Yahoo hasn’t seemed interested in doing anything great with Flikr, but that has to be one of the web’s truly great successes this last decade.
