Facebook Rolling Out An Email Client

From both of these “sensational” stories on TechCrunch, regarding Monday’s announcement of Facebook’s new email application, one would think that Facebook gunned down Gmail in a back ally with a revolver.  Alas, this is what tech reporting has come to — inevitably speculating every new product released on the market is some sort of “market-leading KILLER.”  Just stop please.

I won’t begin to predict how Facebook’s new email features will affect Gmail or if it will even be worth using, but it’s clear that Facebook has plans to incorporate themselves into every facet of our online lives (what with their new places feature, Facebook credits for online transactions, etc.).  That didn’t work out too well for AOL, did it?
