And there Goes the Country

Democrat or Republican or Something Else, regardless of philosophical differences in how to run the country, the one thing I think we can all agree upon is that today’s SJC 5-4 ruling in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission  is a major step back for American Democracy.  “The Supreme Court has ruled that corporations may spend freely to support or oppose candidates for president and Congress, easing decades-old limits on their participation in federal campaigns.”

So know that corporations (and unions) are no longer barred from campaign donations and running ads, we can all expect “a flood of corporate and union money in federal campaigns as early as November’s congressional elections,” as well as many of our elected officials to be bought off more than they already are.
