Nobody could have predicted the success of Apple’s App Store for their iPhone and iPod Touch, but then again no business person could have anticipated the success of Apple’s marquee tech products over the past decade.
Still, when you hear things like “2 billion downloads” or “100,000 apps available” it doesn’t mean much of anything to me.
But this does: “Tapulous [makers of the game Tap Tap Revenge 3]was profiled by Reuters this weekend, which revealed that its sales have approached $1 million per month. The company, which says it is profitable, has also raised $2.8 million from investors. Chief Executive Bart Decrem said he expects his company to continue to grow as the iPhone and iPod touch platform continues to expand.”
“It’s going to be big and all of a sudden people are going to say, ‘Holy cow, where did those guys come from?'” Decrem reportedly said. The same could be said for the business side of the app store. $1 million in sales per month? Insane.
