The Current State of News Dissemination

choosetwo“There is no popular discussion that does not cause sensationalism, for instance, and there is no expert inspection that does not cause delay. The nature of the beast, however, does change over time, and you may safely lay your bets on Twitter (social media in general, really — any “real time discussion”) being an important (but limited) part of it.” — Devin Coldewey, of CrunchGear, using the Tiger Woods car crash story to analyze the current state of news dissemination.

It’s a fantastic piece, but the important thing to remember is that if you want your news quickly and in “real time” via Twitter, etc. then don’t expect that news to be in depth or accurate.
