Snow falls in the UAE for only the second time in recorded history

This is such a rare occurrence in The United Arab Emirates that according to a middle-aged woman who has lived in the area near the Jebel Jais mountains, where as much as 8 inches of snow fell over the weekend, there is no word in the local dialect to describe the event.

Which is completely opposite from the Alaskan Nanooks haveing 40 some-odd words to describe snow in their language.

The first recorded snow in the seven-state Arab federation occured in December of 2004 in the same mountain range.  Click here for more photos.
