Contest Time

Hey everybody!  I’ve got about four T-shirts and posters to give away to four lucky people.  Mostly because I don’t have room for them in my apartment.  The T-shirts aren’t any thing special — they would make a good gym shirt or yardwork shirt.  The posters, however are pretty cool.

It all has to do with Larger Than Life in 3D, featuring DMB, Ben Harper and Gogol Bordello.  I’m pretty much bonkers for concert flicks and music documentaries, especially when they are in 3D, though I wish it were for another band besides DMB.  If you’re interested in checking the movie out, I believe it’s playing in select theaters, though tonight is the final night of its theatrical run.  Could be cool.

So, it’s simple.  You want the prize package tell me your favorite concert memory.  Best show you saw, funniest thing that happened, whatevs.  I’ll arbitrarily pick the four best and send you a T-shirt/poster combo.

Favorite concert memory. My sister calling me about a week after taking her kids backstage to a New Kids on the Block. (first time around '90's) Her son, in 5th grade at the time, was selling photos taken backstage to the girls at school. Happy New Year!

Busta Rhymes concert…except I was kind of little so the Pops had to chaperon. I distinctly recall Busta pulling down his pants on stage and mooning the audience. Pops was not so impressed. Did I mention I am a short white gal from northern New Hampshire?

Hope my awsome story hasn't scared everyone else away from entering your contest…

HA! I don't think anyone can top your story, I mean you won concert tickets from a handicapped guy during karaoke. Still, I figured I'd get a few more. Sigh.

I don't remember the concert too well (tailgating until the main event), but the story is really about how I got the tickets… I was at a bar and the prize was a set of tickets to some festival concert at "Great Woods", headlined by the Bare Naked Ladies. The contest was who could sing a better version of "If I had a Million dollars", and I had become quite fond of the song that summer so I knew the words… I got up, sang my ditty, and the bar erupted with applause. Then the opponent rolled up to the mic, literally, he was in a wheel chair. His rendition was fine, but the crowd applauded even louder and he won. So, how did I get the tickets? The wheelchair guy rolled up to me and admitted he won the pitty vote, that I sung it better, and he handed over the tickets. True story…
