California wildfires

You know we’ve got friends out in Southern California, so we’ve been following the wildfires. Unfortunately, with the way the television news shows cover this horrible event, it can be kind of numbing. You see the images and it doesn’t really hit you emotionally what these people must be going through.

It’s a strange feeling of ennui to watch the reports and just not care, to feel like this is something that happens every year. It wasn’t until I saw this picture from a photobucket account from user Toasternutmeg, when it emotionally hit.

Holy shit! Hard to believe that a photo can do that, to really bring it home and impact you in a way that no television report can. I think the photo speaks for itself. It was taken in proximity to San Diego.
