Bob Dylan released his debut album 50 years ago today. Dylan was just a 20-year-old from Minnesota who had arrived in Manhattan the previous year, aboard a freight train when he released the self-titled album.

There’s something suffocating about the reality that Bob Dylan released his first album half-a-century ago. Was there even the ability to record music in 1912, 50 years prior to Dylan releasing his first record?
