100 Years of Whistling in Pop Songs

From Ennio Morricone to The Beatles to Beck, the guys at Collective Cadenza, aka cdza, a team that makes viral videos about music, combined 26 songs spanning almost a century to make this three-minute medley. The video was directed by Joe Sabia, who discusses his career making viral videos with the Atlantic here.

Two points: It’s unconscionable to not include Andrew Bird, who is the whistling emeritus non grata (yes, I realize what I just wrote was he is the unwelcomed retired whistling person and that’s the opposite of him being the best whistler is music), but the silly dancing at the end more than makes up for it.

Sabia previous made the Bamboo sushi short and “100 Movies, 114 Countries” supercut. [via theatlantic]
