Coming on the heels of their most recent lukewarm LP, The King of Limbs, Radiohead has dropped a new tune. According to Consequence of Sound, “Beginning July 1st, the BBC will air Radiohead – The King of Limbs: Live From The Basement, a 55-minute broadcast featuring the band performing their album in a “studio setting with some additional behind the scenes material.” Of course, seeing as The King of Limbs clocks in at less than 40 minutes, you have to figure a few other songs will be performed to pad out the time.”
“Staircase” is one of those songs. And even more amazingly, the song features the drumming contributions of Clive Deamer, who’s played with Portishead, Dr. John, and Robert Plant amongst many other legends.
It’s a good tune, but I have no idea when Radiohead turned into a jazz fusion band.
