Portland’s Best New Band 2010

Unlike last year when it was obviously a close competition between Explode into Colors and Blind Pilot for the top spot, this year’s Best New Band poll from the Willy Week had a surprise winner — Sallie Ford and The Sound Outside.  I hadn’t even heard of them until the poll was released. This year’s group seems a bit lackluster compared to last year’s class, but that takes nothing away from the winners.

Still, given how musically-centered this city is and given the quality of previous winners, it’s generally an honor to to place in the top ten.

Past winners include: Menomena (2004), Talkdemonic (2005), Copy (2006), The Shaky Hands (2007), The Builders & the Butchers (2008), Explode Into Colors (2009).
