New Iron & Wine, “Half Moon”

The next Iron & Wine LP, Kiss Each Other Clean, is going to be released in January 2011 on Warner Records.  The 10-track effort will be “more of a focused pop record,” Sam Beam, who is for all intents and purposes Iron & Wine, told Spin. “It sounds like the music people heard in their parent’s car growing up… that early-to-mid-’70s FM, radio-friendly music.”

I don’t have a problem with that at all and it feels like a natural progression for his expanding sound, which was once considered the epitome of lo-fi bedroom folk.  Actually, based on those first few records I thought Beam was a shoe-in to join the Nick Drake/Elliott Smith club of mopey-died-too-early folk singers.  [via Fuel Friends]
