Ice Cube enlisted The Roots to drop N.W.A’s “Straight Outta Compton” during warm ups on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. And they do a nifty job with it, managing to dodge the numerous epithet land mines and somehow deliver a clean version of the song that doesn’t lose any of the original’s bite. Kirk, of The Roots, even does a commendable job stepping into the shoes of Eazy-E. Not an easy thing to do.
Food for thought unrelated to the tornado of awesome unleashed by Ice Cube and The Roots: Does Jimmy Fallon have the highest ratio of bloggable moments vs. number of actual show watchers in the history of late night television? I’ve yet to see a single episode of Late Night with him at the helm, and yet I’ve written about his show more than anybody. [via]
