Huh, somehow I missed this news over the long weekend.  But, Vic Chesnutt, a singer-songwriter from Athens, Georgia, who sung darkly hilarious songs, passed away on Christmas Day after an apparent suicide (it’s thought that being ”a wheelchair-bound paraplegic with inadequate health insurance and mounting medical bills” brought this about).

It’s worth your time on this slow news day to click through his YouTube videos.  Michael Stipe remembered him on NPR.  Stipe was essentially responsible for breaking Chestnutt’s career.[via]
