Elvis Costello jams with Jenny Lewis and Zooey Deschanel

I haven’t seen Elvis Costello’s show Spectacle yet, but as soon as it’s available on DVD or streaming, I’m going to dive into that sucker.  I’ve heard nothing but high praise for the interview show.

“Elvis Costello’s Sundance Channel show really is a perfectly packaged hour for music nerds. EC is an adept interviewer, and never shy about joining in the jam during his guest’s performance segments,” writes Amrit for Stereogum.

On his last episode he brought on a cadre of cool kids with Jenny Lewis, Jakob Dylan, M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel and then all four jammed out together.

Sounds like they named the show appropriately.  Showtimes and more info are up at the Sundance mini-site.

Everyday readers already know about my love for Jenny Lewis and her collaboration with Elvis Costello on “Carpetbaggers” but this time around Zooey comes out to sing with them on the standout Acid Tongue cut, followed by “Go Away.”

Also, for anyone that cares, if you squint hard enough you can see Lewis’s BFF Jonathan Rice playing guitar in the background.

And because I’m a music nerd and everything about this makes me giddy, I’m tossing in the interview where Jenny, Matt and Zooey all talk about the various California music that inspired them growing up.

Also if you look around you can find some of these performances to download on Red(Wire).
