Neil Diamond drops “Pretty Amazing Grace” for Amazon

neildiamond.jpgThe king of sequin is back for his 27th album titled Pretty Amazing Grace.  Hard to believe he’s dropped 27 albums over a lifetime.  What’s not so hard to believe, is Neil Diamond is again working with producer Rick Rubin, who on his last album 12 Songs managed to reinvent Diamond or give Diamond the confidence to go back to his singer/songwriter early days.

To be honest I’m not sure how I feel about that.  I’m excited, but deep down inside I just want him to crank out songs like “Cracklin’ Rosie,” “Brother Love’s Traveling Salvation Show” or “Shiloh.”  Silly, I know.  But anyone who tells you they don’t get a sloppy smile from hearing those tunes is a liar.

His new tune is alright and he shot a live video exclusively for Amazon, which means you’ll have to go over there to watch and then come back.  The video will only be up for a week so if you miss it, then boo, but hey you can always check out 12 Songs.
Home Before Dark is out 5/6 on Columbia Records.
