We heard a rumor floating around that Minneapolis-bred
god musician Mason Jennings had left his deal with Glacial Pace Records. That always seemed like an odd fit, seeing as it was the vanity imprint of Modest Mouse’s frontman Isaac Brock.
Now, though, Jennings is bringing his brand of rootsy, folk, rock to Jack Johnson’s record label, Brushfire Records.? This fits like a glove.? Not only are the artists on Brushfire more in line with the music that Mason makes, but it seems like Brushfire is more of a family than a record label.? Other artists on the label include G. Love, Matt Costa, ALO and Rogue Wave.
Expect an official announcement from Mason’s camp coming soon.? Hopefully, Jennings will be given the time and resources and of course, the marketing push to take his career to the next level.? It’s strange to us that he has a devout fan base, but isn’t widely known outside of that.? Certainly we fall in the “cult” side of that fan base.
From his manager, Chris Sampson: “We will be making an official announcement shortly.? Thanks for reaching out, and appreciate the good words.”? Short, to the point.
