Huey Lewis singing about the Pineapple Express

Huey Lewis is responsible for some of the best movie songs during the eighties. He’s no Kenny Loggins, but “The Power of Love” is pretty dope. Now thanks to Team Apatow and Seth Rogen, Lewis is back with another movie song that should go straight to the heart of any 80’s kid.

His contribution to the stoner comedy Pineapple Express is now available to stream. And I’ve got to say, it’s got a nice “Power of Love” vibe to it. Not only do I want to ride the Pineapple Express, but I’m also probably not alone in thinking Huey Lewis should do the soundtrack for every movie made from now on. He’s like Midas.

Sample lyrics: “We got trouble, we got to get out of here. I?ve got you, you?ve got me. We are as high as we can be. That?s all right. How did we get into this mess? Pineapple Express!” All with those trademark blue-eyed horns in the background.

Pineapple Express stars James Franco and Seth Rogen as a pair of stoners, who get high and get caught up in a shit storm when they watch the police murder someone. It’s directed by indie-auteur David Gordon Green. The comedy hits theaters on 8.8
