Foos your daddy? That would be Dave Grohl

It’s always curious to watch bands chug along under the radar, but still put out high quality music. Pearl Jam immediately comes to mind, but slowly turning into one of those bands are Dave Grohl’s Foo Fighters.

Somehow the Red Hot Chili Peppers have released the same song and dance now for 15 to 20 years and each time they release an album it’s like beholden to be the greatest thing in life. While both PJ and FF seems to get minimal love.

Well, we’re throwing down the gauntlet today. The Foo will be releasing LP #6, tentatively titled Echos, Silence, Patience and Grace. This news comes on the heels of the reissue of their should-be-classic 1997 LP The Colour and the Shape today; the reissue will come complete with six bonus cuts.

Dave Grohl is bonafide as a rock star but he seems like a generally likable guy, unlike (fill in blank with any other petulant rock star). He’s always more than willing to bring the funny, whether on stage or in videos and that’s a-okay with us.

In an interview with, Grohl describes Echoes’ sound by saying, “It has always been my dream to mix Steely Dan with No Means No,” and, “There’s four-piece rock band shit, but then there are songs where the middle sections turn into this mass orchestrated swarm and ridiculous time signatures.”

Great stuff all around.? This is the confirmed, but unsequenced track listing for the new album.

The Pretender
Let It Die
Long Road To Ruin
Come Alive
Stranger Things Have Happened
Cheer Up, Boys (Your Make-Up Is Running)
Summers End
Ballad Of The Beaconsfield Miners
But, Honestly

“Ballad Of The Beaconsfield Miners” may or may not be based on a true story of two miners who listened to the Foo Fighters, after being trapped in a mine, until their rescue.? And who doesn’t love a good jab at the Emo kids with the title “Cheer Up, Boys (You’re Make-Up Is Running).? Although maybe, at this point poking fun of the Emo kids is like piling on in football.

Echos, Silence, Patience and Grace will hit stores on 9.25 courtesy of Roswell/RCA.

Some gnarly headbanging highlights of The Foo Fighters Live Earth performance after the jump.?
