The big news, of course, is that Joss Whedon revealed the Avengers sequel would be titled ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’.
The story will be loosely based on the Marvel comic series of the same name that came out this year from writer Brian Michael Bendis.
I say loosely, because the comic features Wolverine and Invisible Girl — proper of the 20th Century Fox movie studio — as main characters. It also includes an appearance by the robot Vision, which I now assume is the role Vin Diesel has been rumored for.
Anyway, given that Hank Pym, aka Ant-Man, was responsible for creating the robot Ultron, it seems like there’s a much clearer picture of how the second phase of Marvel movies might fit together.
It also keeps open the possibility for the third phase of Marvel movies to revolve around the Planet Hulk story line. Though given that Marvel is building up Thanos it seems likely he will be the big bad in Avengers 3.
io9 has a rundown of updates to all the other second phase Marvel movies, including ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ which I am even more amped for based on the movie’s description and this ‘Usual Suspects’-style photo of the main characters.
