Some of you maybe care about this because it’s the first non-Twilight book from author Stephenie Meyer adapted into a movie (god I just threw up trying to type that with a straight face), but the only reason I care about it is because of the involvement from writer/director Andrew Niccol, who happens to be one of the more interesting and frustrating people working in Hollywood. It’s clear he’s talented, smart, and loves science fiction — see: Gattaca, Lords of War, The Truman Show, In Time.
But, I want Niccol’s films to be much better than they are. He’s full of big ideas and big promise. Gattaca is a perfect film, as far as I’m concerned. It’s a classic. But everything else?
Anyway, The Host, do we even need to talk about it? It’s essentially Invasion of the Body Snatchers from the Twilight lady. Is the book any good? I don’t know. The movie stars Saoirse Ronan in the lead roll though and she’s the bees knees. So it has that going for it. [via themarysue]
