Trailer: The Bourne Legacy

I had entirely forgotten there was going to be a fourth installment in the Bourne franchise released this summer and it would be the first post-Matt Damon entry. It’s just one more movie to get excited about for the summer of 2012.

The Bourne Legacy stars Jeremy Renner as our resident messed-up secret agent. It’s hard to tell how much Tony Gilroy’s direction of the film will differ from Paul Greengrass’, however this trailer still has that kinetic spirit of the previous entries.

As much as I like Jeremy Renner, this trailer is missing Matt Damon. It’s too bad we won’t get to see the two of them square off or work together. It’d be nice if there was a handing off of the torch in this film, like there was with the recent Mission: Impossible flick. Damon’s Jason Bourne character deserves a fitting send-off. That trilogy didn’t end as well in hindsight.

The film also stars Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach, Oscar Isaac, Albert Finney, Joan Allen, David Strathairn, and Scott Glenn.  The Bourne Legacy opens August 3rd. [via collider]
