Don’t be fooled by the inclusion of Jason Segel and Ed Helms in the latest Duplass brother’s film, Jeff, Who Lives at Home. The film premiered at the 2011 Toronto Film Festival, and though it’s gotten good enough reviews from what I’ve heard, it’s still a Duplass Brother’s film, which means it’ll be funny, offbeat, and not the least bit mass-marketable. The film is about two brothers, Jeff and Pat (played by Segel and Helms, respectively), one a 30 year-old still living in his parents’ basement, the other struggling with a failed marriage.
Plus, Judy Greer elevates every thing she’s in. Has any other talented actress deserved to have a better career than her? She always seems to star in material that is beneath her.
In theaters March 16, 2012.
(As an aside, Humpday isn’t a Duplass Brother’s comedy but it does star Mark Duplass and it’s one of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen)
