If you told me Sony Pictures was releasing an animated movie staring Adam Sandler as Dracula, who invites a slew of famous monsters – Frankenstein and his bride, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, a family of werewolves, and more — to Transylvania one weekend to celebrate his daughter Mavis’s 118th birthday, I’d promptly say, “no, thank you”.
But if you also told me that movie was directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, who is best known for his incredible work on TV shows Samurai Jack, Dexter’s Laboratory, and The Powerpuff Girls, I’d say, “Ok, you have my attention.”
To be clear, Tartakovsky’s participation in this movie is the only thing that makes me curious about it. Given his past work, this certainly feels like the kind of move he’s taking only to get into the big studio animation game. [via firstshowing]
