G.I. Joe: Retaliation Super Bowl Spot

by James Furbush on February 1, 2012

I’m loath to admit it, but it looks as if the director behind the Justin Bieber movie might be the guy to deliver a G.I. Joe movie that we’ve all been hoping for. And by “we”, I mean male adults suffering from arrested development who actually care about the fact that Cobra Commander wears a mask.

So why does this spot work? It’s simple. The Rock quotes Jay-Z, C.O.B.R.A. flags unfurl on the White House, we get some nice action shots, a decent look at Cobra Commander, and then Bruce Willis brandishes a machine gun and says, “you can call me Joe.” Done and done. I’m sold.

Is it weird that this might be the movie I’m most excited about in a secretive, guilty way? I mean obviously, The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises are at the top of the list, but the eight-year-old in me is stoked for this. [via Slashfilm]
