“Syle is a Crystallization, a Process of Continued Growth”

In 1971, Bruce Lee sat down for an interview with Pierre Burton in Hong Kong. It is the film and Kung Fu legend’s only existing interview. It’s a very wide ranging interview, but you get a sense of Bruce Lee, the person, when Pierre Burton asked him about the casting of David Carradine in the television show Kung Fu, which Lee developed for himself to star in: “They think that business wise it is a risk. I don’t blame them. If the situation were reversed, and an American star were to come to Hong Kong, and I was the man with the money, I would have my own concerns as to whether the acceptance would be there.” It’s a very compassionate answer, especially because Lee had every right to be bitter at the Warner Brothers executives.
