For the most part, the retro opening for X-Men: First Class is really nifty. It takes the series theme music from the nineties cartoon and slows it down, turning it into a unsettling, moody piece of music. The animations are great, as is the incorporation of period-era historical figures and newspaper clippings. But the movie takes place during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1961 — so why are we seeing shots of MLK’s famous speech in 1963 or the Vietnam protesters from later in the decade?
Still, I suppose those minor complaints are nitpicking for something so well done.Check out more of his work here.
