Son of Rambow is director Garth Jennings’s follow up to his adaptation of A Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. I get the sense that lots of people didn’t like that movie because they were fans of Douglas Adams’s book, but I found it mildly charming based solely on the performances.
His new movie follows some young kids in England attempting to remake a Rambo-style movie, but at its core the film is about two unlikely friends (one a troublemaker, the other from a strictly religious family). It looks cute and premiered at the 2007 Sundance Festival. The buzz was such that Paramount Vantage scooped the film up.
Son of Rambow blows up into theaters on May 2.
